WHAT IS THE NEW STRATEGY OF DELHI GOVERNMENT ON ELECTRIC VEHICLE ?

WHAT IS ELECTRIC VEHICLE?

An electric vehicle (EV) is one that operates on an electric motor, Instead of an internal-combustion engine that generates power by burning a mix of fuel and gases.
EVs previously appeared in the mid-nineteenth century, when power was among the favored techniques for engine vehicle impetus, giving comfort and simplicity of activity that couldn't be accomplished by the fuel vehicles of the time. Present-day interior ignition motors have been the predominant drive technique for engine vehicles for very nearly 100 years, however, the electric force has stayed typical in other vehicle types, for example, trains and littler vehicles of different kinds

DELHI GOVT. TO INCENTIVISE E-VEHICLE PURCHASE

To ensure the capital's transition to clean energy, the Delhi government launched an electric vehicle policy last week.
This would incentivize buying new electric vehicles, Scrapping cars running on petrol and diesel, and low-cost interest loans for battery run commercial vehicles.
The Delhi government will provide a subsidy for electric vehicles up to Rs 30,000 on the purchase of two-wheelers, Auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, freight vehicles each, and Rs 1.5 lakh incentives on cars.
This subsidy will provide for easy transitive between petrol and diesel vehicles to the electric vehicle.
Electric vehicles are quite costly today. the vehicles which emit pollutants are cheaper than electric vehicles, and because of their non-affordability, they are not purchased by the people and hence not promoted.
The Delhi government will be giving financial incentives so that more and more people purchase electric vehicles.

WHO PROVIDE FUNDING TO THE DELHI GOVT.?

The incentives will be funded through a proposed cess and additional road tax on petrol and diesel vehicle users, and especially luxury car users have more tax than others and Congestion fee on all vehicles except those driven by a battery, the policy says.

TARGET OF DELHI GOVERNMENT

The government has set an ambitious target to ensure that by 2024, at least 25% of all new vehicle registration is that of electric vehicles.
Today, this percentage is only 0.2%, and we want to take it to 25% said by the Delhi government, flanked by transport Minister Kailash Gahlot.
The government also promises to ensure a rollout of battery-driven autos, on which there will be no cap, which is currently fixed at 1 lakh for CNG-run three-wheelers.
The policy also expects delivery service providers like Zomato  and Swiggy to convert 50% of their
two-wheelers fleet to electric by march 2023 and 100% by March 2025.
Over the next three years, half of the state-run buses to be procured will be pure electric buses.
The government will start doing so with the induction of 1,000 pure electric buses by 2020.

SCRAPPING POLICY OF GOVERNMENT

Many people have polluting vehicles at their homes, which are petrol and diesel vehicles.
In this case, the old vehicle can be exchanged while purchasing the new vehicle so that it reduces the cost of the new vehicle further.
This scrapping incentive is being given for the first time in the entire country.

LOANS FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

In addition, for those who want to purchase electric vehicles, loans will be given from the Delhi Government at very low-interest rates, and registration and road tax fees will be waived.

WHAT ABOUT CHARGING STATIONS?

The CM said a web of around 200 charging stations will be created in Delhi. Our aim is to create a charging station every 3 km.

OVERALL AIM OF THE GOVERNMENT

Reducing air pollution in Delhi and kick-start the already suffering economy by spurring demand.

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES

In India, the first concrete decision to incentivize electric vehicles was taken in 2010.
According to a Rs 95 crore scheme approved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), The government announced a financial incentive for manufacturers for an electric vehicle sold in India.
This scheme is not working. so, the policy launched the name as National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP). Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India)

The government of India launched the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020 in 2013.
There is an ambitious target to achieve 6-7 million sales of hybrid and electric vehicles year on year from 2020 onwards.
The central government has set a target of EV  making up 30% of new sales of cars and two-wheelers by 2030.
